About Razieh

Fine ceramics and visual artwork

Razieh Riazati is a London-based artist, creator & teacher. She has practised themes of purity, dynamic movement, elemental alchemy, and Persian geometry and form through her core modalities of ceramics, painting, and mixed media for over 20 years.

Razieh curiously explores new styles, techniques and motifs in her body of work spanning fine artwork, homeware, and jewellery. She is in love with pottery and the moment she opens her kiln to behold how mixing different tints with different pigments and firing can produce new and unanticipated results.

Razieh is proud to showcase her culture through her work, and is inspired by the symbolism of water and fish that represent energy, life and new beginnings.

“In water I see all the colours, in water I can see my face reflected. Water is my element. This is perhaps why my path has taken me around the world. I am always moving, like a river I never stop. When something is in my way I go through it, around it, or wear it down.

Nature and its elements are what inspires me as an artist. For 20 years I have mixed earthen clay and water together to form my pottery; I dry it in the air and I fire it to make it strong.

These elements are different, even opposite, but together they achieve beauty and completion. My work celebrates different things coming together in harmony. Like all beings, who come in different forms, and from different waves, but come together in unity and oneness.”
